Industries

Your industry does not change accounting. It changes what feeds it.

Double-entry is double-entry everywhere. What differs is where the transactions come from, which obligations attach to them, and which numbers you actually need to run the business.

That difference is where most accounting engagements go wrong — a firm that has never reconciled a payment-provider payout will not know what to look for in yours.

What the industry actually changes

  • Where the entries come from — a POS, a marketplace, a payroll engine, a production order.
  • How revenue is recognised, and when.
  • Which local obligations attach on top of the general ones.
  • What has to be reconciled, how often, and against what.
  • Which figures the management team looks at on a Monday morning.

None of that is exotic. All of it is the difference between books that close in three days and books that close in three weeks.

We work in five industries because those are the five where our accountants have done the work often enough to know the failure modes before you hit them. Outside them we are competent generalists, which is a weaker claim and we would rather say so.

If you are not in one of these five

Say so on the call. The five pages above exist because we have depth there, not because we refuse everything else — a services company, a non-profit or a franchise is ordinary work for a chartered accountant.

What we will not do is claim sector expertise we do not have. If your industry has a rulebook we have not worked in, we will tell you before you sign, and often point you to someone in the network who has.

Questions about industry fit

No. The price follows the volume and the complexity of your books, not the label on your industry. An e-commerce company with three channels and two countries costs more than a single-country one, and that is the reason — not the sector.

Both, and that is common — a manufacturer selling direct online is an e-commerce and a manufacturing problem at the same time. The free diagnostic exists to sort out which constraint dominates before anyone quotes.

Both, and that is the point. The chart of accounts, the journals, the reconciliation rules and the reports all differ. Getting the industry wrong at setup is the single most expensive mistake we are asked to fix afterwards.

Ask on the call and we will say plainly whether we do. We do not publish a client list, and we will not imply experience we cannot name.

The five industries are covered across the network, but depth varies by country. We will tell you which of our chartered accountants has actually done the work in your jurisdiction rather than assigning whoever is free.
